Welcome to the FiveCollege Program in
Peace and World Security Studies (PAWSS)

PAWSS is a multidisciplinary educational endeavor of the Five College Consortium of Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.   It was established in 1983 to foster student and faculty awareness of major international issues and to promote undergraduate education in the peace and security field, broadly defined.   PAWSS sponsors a wide variety of activities for students and faculty in the Five College community and seeks to extend its outreach to scholars everywhere through its website.   (For more background, go to About PAWSS)

The Director of PAWSS is Michael Klare, the Five College Professor of Peace and World Security Studies, based at Hampshire College (mklare@hampshire.edu)
